Why we love sing days!

Every year - around this time , we start planning events for the following year, choir tours for my own three choirs, looking at new repertoire and planning the sing days and singing holidays that will appeal to our loyal and expanding group of singers.

Trying to find locations that offer a day out experience ( for non singing partners!) and also looking at the music that might be used is a exciting task ( generally Anne does all the legwork once a plan has been decided!)

Then the actual day comes where we get to meet old friends and singers we have never met, and then wondering what sort of sound they will make!

At Appleby recently, virtually all the singers were new to a TKM sing day, the venue was lovely, the resident organist and his wife so helpful at the venue and although the weather was a little non July like, the day was wonderful.

Coming up soon we return to Settle, our third sing day in this fine Yorkshire Market town, for the first time exploring English part songs, then its Preston Minster in October for Handel choruses and then onto the wonderful Channing hall in Sheffield for a look at Remembrance music.

It is difficult to actually say what the repertoire will be till we have an idea of the number of singers but we do usually put the full repertoire on line a couple of weeks before.

In 2025 we are starting at St Margaret's in Horsforth, Leeds to look at Stainers 'The Crucifixion' and some Stanford and Sullivan, then looking at a possible day in Penrith and we have already booked in Howden Minster for a September 2025 singday - Haydn and Mozart.

Alongside these events we have already booked in a return to Wyedale Hall near Scarborough for next years Summer Singing weekend.

We couldn't arrange these events without the support of our singers - so thank you, and dont hesitate to get in touch if you have venues or music you think we should consider!
