“Child of the Angels” was written by John Stallsmith in 2016 to be part of the traditional Lessons and Carols Service. The text is meant to follow the 7th lesson which is the Angel’s proclamation of Christ’s birth.
John A. Stallsmith is an organist, composer, conductor, and educator. He holds degrees in organ performance from Youngstown State University (BM), the University of Kansas (MM), and the University of Alabama (DMA).
He has been a music instructor at Bevill State Community College in Jasper, Alabama since 1993. He is organist for St. Cecelia’s Roman Catholic Church and organist/director of music for First United Methodist Church both in Jasper.
He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society and has been included in Who’s Who Among American College Teachers multiple years. He is co-author of the book Music Through Time; a music appreciation textbook.
His original hymn “Let All the Earth Rejoice” won first prize in the Bethlehem Hymn Competition 2015. His organ, choral, and instrumental works are published by Art of Sound Music, Darcey Press, Leupold Editions, Lorenz Publications and Paraboloid Press.
