Aria (#2 above) is written for manuals only, and #1 and #3 suggest optional use of pedal. The music has great versatility – useful for the "pianist-turned-organist" and for the veteran looking for some variety in tone (giving those pedals a rest). The music is harmonically engaging and rhythmically interesting.

Festival Flourish (#4) is a full-fledged processional or postlude that calls for a solo reed (a state trumpet would be ideal) and obligatory pedal.
