This is the first of what is going to be a series of Volumes focussing on music based on hymn tunes which feature in the Church's calendar, such as Advent, Trinity etc. This first set, however, is comprised of six pieces which are suitable for general use throughout the year.
The pieces are written by some of our in-house composers and are intended for use by their fellow organists to be linked to other music in a service … some lend themselves to setting the mood at the beginning of the service, whilst some would provide a rousing ending (as in Derry Bertenshaw's Toccata). Some of the music would also be suitable for recitals.
